Newborn Portraiture
Newborn portrait sessions are photo shoots that take place within the first two weeks of your newborn's life. Newborns change quickly and the first days provide a unique opportunity to pose and photograph your infant in peaceful, natural ways that are no longer possible after this small window of time. Newborn sessions with Tamsin Photography take place in a studio setting complete with studio lighting, backdrops, professional posing equipment, props and accessories. Parents do not need to bring props, clothing or accessories to the shoot as the scenes will be professionally styled for each newborn before the session. A heater and white noise machine allow for a soothing environment in which babies are peacefully posed and photographed using newborn flow posing techniques. The sessions last approximately 1-4 hours depending on the level of the package selected (below).
Within three weeks clients are provided with an online gallery of artistically edited, high-resolution images in both color and black and white. Image release is included in the total package cost for all packages. There is never any obligation to purchase print products from Tamsin Photography, (but we are here to help if you need it). Your edited images are included in the session price- there are no surprises or selling sessions. We believe in transparent pricing so that parents know exactly what to expect during and after their newborn. After all, life with a new baby is hectic enough without high-pressure sales!
To book your session please contact Tamsin Photography during your pregnancy to set up a tentative appointment within two weeks of your due date. Once your baby is born we will communicate to move the session forward or back accordingly to ensure that your session takes place within the first fourteen days of life. Sessions book out about 6 month in advance, so the end of the first trimester is the best time to book.
All newborn sessions take place in our newborn studio in Brevard County, Florida.
Due to the amount of equipment involved in newborn studio portrait sessions we do not provide in-home posed newborn studio photography sessions. However, we do provide lifestyle newborn sessions in home! If you are interested in a home session please request details for a lifestyle newborn session.

Portrait Packages
The Little Bundle of Joy: $400
This session is our smallest and lasts approximately one hour. This experience provides our clients with a session in the newborn studio for babies only, and includes two wrapped poses and one bucket pose with arms unwrapped. Clients will receive 10 images of their baby with digital image release for printing purposes. This session does not include portraits with parents, siblings or family. This is perfect for families looking for a few shots for a birth announcement, etc.
Baby’s First Modeling Gig: $550
This session is our most popular package and includes three hours of shooting with baby only in the newborn studio to include wrapped, bucket, and poser images including bottoms-up pose, froggy pose, taco pose and other more advanced poses. Clients receive 15 edited images with digital image release for printing purposes. This session does not include portraits with parents, siblings or family.
The Whole Shabang: $750
This session gives our clients a newborn portrait experience lasting approximately 4 hours, to include studio images of baby wrapped, bucket pose, and newborn flow posing images including bottoms-up pose, froggy pose, taco pose and more. This session then allows for additional portraits in the last hour of our time together, including images of mother and baby, father and baby, parents together with baby, sibling(s) and baby and a full family portrait. When working with siblings, we ask that parents arrange to have them arrive one hour before the end of the session for their portion of the experience. Clients receive 25 edited image with digital image release for printing purposes.
Lifestyle Newborn Sessions: $500
This session takes place within 2 weeks of the birth of your baby in your own home. We provide lighting, props, wraps and equipment to take image that have a natural focus on family, baby and home. Scenes are usually the master bedroom and/or nursery.
Tips for a successful newborn photo shoot:
It is important that your little one is feeding well before we shoot together. In the event that your milk has not come in yet, and you are not supplementing with formula, we may need to push your session back a few days to ensure that your little one is content and able to be photographed successfully. This is okay! Let me know if you believe that this applies to you.
Bring all items that you will need to feed and soothe your baby for at least three hours (extra breast milk and/or formula, bottles, bottle liners if needed, nipple shields, pacifiers, blankets, etc)
Bring wipes and any other supplies to keep your baby clean during the session
Parents are encouraged to wear cool and comfortable clothing as the room is heated to keep newborns cozy and warm (please bring your own family portrait clothing with you so that we can keep it clean before your portraits as newborns will be without diapers during their shoot and things can get a little messy! Okay… VERY messy!)
Please bring any drinks and snacks that you will need for yourself during the session
There is a limit of two adults per newborn during the first two hour posed newborn portion of the sessions. Thank you for your cooperation.
For family portraits over four please let the photographer know in advance for backdrop planning purposes
Please bring older siblings to the session in the last hour for their portraits together as there is nowhere for them to play during the posed newborn images and we need a peaceful environment to make the magic happen!
We do not allow large groups to come to watch the portrait sessions s peace and quiet are important and we have A LOT of equipment in the studio to make the magic happen.
