Cape Canaveral, Florida Family Portrait Session at Jetty Park Beach
What do you get when you have an adorable, well-styled family, a scenic Florida location and a breezy night with a golden sunset? Simply put- amazing images!
I had the opportunity to meet Tracy and Shawn Spaulding and their three beautiful children one windy, warm evening in Cape Canaveral, Florida. From the beginning I could tell that this family was laid-back, loving, and out to have fun during their session. Not only that, but thanks to mom they were dressed perfectly in a coordinating blue, white and yellow color scheme that made everyone look great! A strong style made this family picture-perfect and ready to go!
I had fun running and playing in the surf with the kids, posing them on the dunes for traditional, glowing portrait shots with the wind in their hair, and climbing on the jetty rocks with them as the sun set behind us.
The best candid moments and natural images come from sessions in which the families are happy, relaxed, and having fun. It is okay to laugh and run and play during your portrait session. In fact- I love it when families do!
Happy summer to this family and all of the other families that I will be working with soon. I am looking forward to making memories and, most of all, having FUN with you soon!

A Sunshine State of Mind- Cocoa Beach, Florida Senior Session
What is your senior session state of mind? For Breanna it was golden sunshine. It was light and airy and natural. It was free-spirited and laid-back with a blend of boho and surfer vibes. It was crashing waves against a beach that feels like home to this high school senior who is preparing to leave for college in the fall.
Working with Breanna for her senior portrait session at the Historic Cocoa Beach Pier in beautiful Cocoa Beach, Florida was a photographer's dream. Breanna is a senior at Titusville High School and is preparing to kick off her college life as a freshman at The University of Central Florida. This bright, athletic, Florida girl will be majoring in Television Broadcasting and is working hard to fulfill her dream to become a television news anchor. She names her family as her biggest supporters and inspiration and credits them as the reason for all of the successes in her life.
Breanna is one of those young adults who leaves a lasting impression on you. She is an amazing balance of beauty and brains. Her bubbly, laid-back personality made her a joy to be around and after spending time shooting with her there is no doubt in my mind that she is going to do amazing things in this new chapter of her life.
Having grown up in Florida, the iconic Cocoa Beach scene was the perfect spot for this surfer girl to be captured in the sunshine, sand and surf. Breanna was photographed on the beach at just two months old, and now returning to take her senior portraits here just seemed like a natural fit. The beach is her go-to spot when she needs to relax or have fun, and the outgoing spirit she embodies shines through the images from our session together.
Congratulations to Breanna and best wishes for an amazing college experience! I am SURE we will see you on TV someday soon!

There are few things more captivating to me than the incredible fact that mothers literally create life, from start to finish, in just nine fleeting months. I can say with sincerity that I am still in awe when it comes to the unbelievable grace of being a mother, even after my own pregnancies and extensive work with pregnant clients.
As a photographer I often speak with clients who are tired, uncomfortable and otherwise “over” being pregnant. The last weeks are annoying at best as you feel awkward, waddle when you walk, are dying in the Florida heat and can't tie your own shoes! Although others can see the striking beauty of your growing body it is sometimes difficult to feel confident during such a physically challenging time.
There are many reasons to treat yourself to a maternity portrait session. The most obvious of these is to capture this unique experience in your life with timeless images that you will someday sit down to reflect on and share with your children. The not-so-obvious reason that I love maternity portraiture, however, is that mothers who come to me tired and anxious for their birth leave with images that allow them to see themselves in the stunning, beautiful way that others do.
I recently worked with a young mother who was frustrated and exhausted. The most rewarding part of the photographer-client exchange with her came for me when she saw her gallery and told me that seeing her maternity portraits made her feel beautiful for the first time in months. She regained a sense of confidence in herself when she saw her maternity gallery. Moments like that make the work that I do rewarding on a deeper level.
So, this is my message to all of the tired and overwhelmed mothers of the world- remember that you are amazing, gorgeous, strong, and getting closer every single day to meeting your beautiful little baby. Take some time out to focus on yourself and capture the incredible beauty of your pregnancy before it is over- you deserve it!
